From Acas to hearing

Employment Tribunal Process

The process is easier to manage when you know what happens next: Acas, ET1, ET3, case management, disclosure, witness statements, bundle, hearing and judgment.

Before the claim

Most claimants notify Acas first. If settlement does not happen, Acas issues a certificate and the claimant can file the ET1.

After ET1

The respondent normally files an ET3 response. The tribunal may then give directions for documents, witness statements and hearing preparation.

At the hearing

The tribunal hears evidence, tests documents, considers the legal claims and decides liability and remedy.
